Hebe Uhart

Hebe Uhart, born in 1936, in Moreno, is one of Argentina's finest storytellers. She studied Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, and went into teaching. She has published two novellas, Camilo asciende (1987) and Mudanzas (1995), but is best known for her short stories, which explore the lives of ordinary people in small towns. Her collected works, Relatos Reunidos, were published by Alfaguara in 2010, winning an award at the 2011 Buenos Aires Book Fair. In 2017 she was awarded the Manuel Rojas Ibero-American Narrative awards by Child's National Council of Culture and the Arts. Considered a South-American Alice Munro, Hebe Uhart is regarded as one of Argentina's most remarkable contemporary writers.
