Richard C. Lewontin
Richard C. Lewontin (1929-2021) pioneered the field of molecular population genetics by merging molecular biology and evolutionary theory, as well as the philosophical and social implications of genetics and evolutionary theory. He was Alexander Agassiz Professor of Zoology and Professor of Biology at Harvard University. Among his many books are It Ain't Necessarily So: The Dream of the Human Genome and Other Illusions; The Genetic Basis of Evolutionary Change; Biology as Ideology: the Doctrine of DNA; Human Diversity; and The Triple Helix: Gene Organism and Environment.
